Community Fair Recap - by Marilyn Penny
On September 25th, a beautiful but unseasonably warm Saturday, Wilmington Garden Club, along with 23 other service organizations, participated in WilmingtonÙs first Community Fair, sponsored by the Wilmington Memorial Library. Charlotte Stewart's photo board depicting some of the club's activities generated a lot of interest, with many people expressing that they were unaware the troughs and barrels throughout the town were maintained by club members. The door prize, a beautiful arrangement of autumn flowers and fruits designed by Celia Cornish, was won by John Hess of Wilmington. Charlotte Stewart, Paula Butterworth, Beverly Soper, Jennifer Kenney, and Marilyn Penny gave out over 50 applications, described upcoming programs, and encouraged people to come to a meeting to see what we are all about.
